This idea came from Perpetual Preschool. That is one of the first websites I found when searching for art activities for kids a long time ago.
We changed things from what they listed. I used watered down brown paint instead of food coloring.
I used a dropper to drop some of the paint in the bottom corner and had him use a straw to blow OUT and push the paint up and to the left and right to form branches. (Where did all my pictures of him using the straw go??? Oh, well. )
Then he dotted glue along the branch.
He took small squares of dark and light pink tissue paper and balled them up and stuck them on the glue.
I thought his came out so pretty and spring-like that I made one too. :)

I found this blog not long ago and just now got the chance to sit down and start looking through it. You have some great ideas! The cherry blossom craft came out so cute!
ReplyDeleteHow cute! My girls love to paint using a straw. I was scared at first to let my now two year old do it. I thought she might suck the paint up but she did great!
ReplyDeleteAnne- I first tried Bubble Painting when he was about 2 and he sucked in some bubble solution and stayed away from any projects with straws for a long time. :)
ReplyDeleteSarah- Thanks for coming back! I will be checking your blog out as well. :)
I love the straw painting effect! We are going to have to try this idea the next time we paint trees. Thanks for the great idea!
ReplyDeleteThose are really pretty. Cali just mentioned the project we did in the fall this same way. We used crushed leaves though. I should try it again.
ReplyDeleteThey turned out beautiful. That is a great Spring project.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking to Saturday Showcase, have a great weekend.
You have an award waiting for you on my blog :)
ReplyDeleteYOu do a lot of great things! I am technically "just a nanny" too, to my little nieces, but I prefer to call myself a "stay at home auntie!" With everything you do with your little dude, I think you deserve a better title than "Nanny" too! Maybe you should be called a 1:1 Preschool Teacher or a Personal Home Educator or something like that!
ReplyDeleteI bet he enjoyed blowing that paint!
ReplyDeleteThis is a fun spring project! Love the "painting" while blowing the paint along with the straw. Thanks for linking up!
